PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
The Holy Cross Hospice philosophy is the integration of pain and symptom management with spiritual nourishment to provide an optimum quality of life in the patient’s remaining days.
Our conscientious approach to end-of-life care is based on moral and ethical principles that support the value of human life at every stage as outlined by the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services. We also use the National Catholic Bioethics Center as a resource for ethical guidelines. Our goal is to support the patient and the family through the natural process of dying. We augment the care of the primary caregivers and serve as a resource to those caring for loved ones with a life-limiting illness. Our actions are driven by the philosophy of treating the patient’s’ holistic needs: mind, body and spirit.
